Bangladesh can only protect its borders and reduce the damages through quick, opportunistic and well calculated actions. The political map of Rakhine is being forcefully remapped and if Bangladesh is not paying attention to this changing equation, the future generations will be the ones to suffer.
Guests need accessible information about emergency exits and evacuation procedures; staff need regular training and drills. These measures are not substitutes for accountability after a disaster.
As the global aid system shrinks itself by design, Bangladesh is being asked to do more, with less, twice over -- once for a million Rohingya it did not create, and once for a climate crisis it did not cause.
